Jax lives for colour!
After 15 years teaching art and drama, she channels theatrical energy into fluorescent fuchsia, electric indigo, iridescent teal, and sunburst neon yellow realms. Her canvases form textured prints and abstract-surreal topographies that cannot be replicated (Even by Jax ;)
In the studio she’s part student, part mad scientist, turning ADHD curiosity into a playful, experimental practice. Mistakes are welcomed and often preserved as part of a piece’s personality; sometimes they’re gently masked through a mindful flow that honours deviations from the plan. Painting brings Jax into a deep flow state—
PAINT = BLISS.
She draws inspiration from her doggo Ravioli, loving family, innovative students, the natural world and Okanagan Valley, and a vivid imagination, to create vibrant new worlds. In an era of mass-produced beauty, Jax strives to make unique art objects only a human could craft, celebrating the beauty of humanity and the Earth by exploring materials through a human lens and uniting them with love.
Jax acknowledges that she lives, works, and creates on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) peoples. She honours the knowledge keepers, Elders past and present, and all Indigenous peoples whose relationships to this land continue to guide and sustain its communities and ecosystems.
